5Love It  Jun 05, 2010
Long overdue, enjoying it so much! In addition, this is a first for large online purchasing in our house. The process was so smooth and easy! The underlying vendor (OneCall) was better than the local box stores or electronic shops we were otherwise considering. Two thumbs way up!

5SOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!! than LCD  May 04, 2010
I just got this TV today so I want to write a 1st impression review. I had bought a 60" LCD from BB and they gave me 30dy return. Well needless to say I returned it for this plasma, my old 55" Sony LCD rear projection had a WAY better pic than the LCD I returned . Right out the box I put in studio mode(does not have cinema mode)all I did was bring brightness and contrast down to 50% as instructed by various forums and HDTV site for break-in(100 or so hrs). OMG what a gorgeous picture, I was shocked at the difference in the pq it is like night and day, and the panny is a dulled down pic for the break-in period. I have read as many reviews and article's that I can find about black level rise and I found there to be a lot of conflicting opinions(some have seen it, some have not, some have seen dramatic rise, some have seen little to none). They are saying that 2008/2009 models are being affected. My friend has a 2008 and has seen no change. Yes Panasonic has said it was designed that way but still has excellent picture, but like I said the reviews and article's are conflicting, so I took a chance, as with any TV you buy these days. I am a firm believer in extended warranties if you need repairs it can pay for its self. I found that out the hard way so now I don't hesitate. I can not comment on sound I run all my components thru Pioneer AVR via HDMI then out to TV via HDMI. I use my surround sound for all audio. Some think plasma's run hot I don't feel it runs any hotter than LCD. It sits on a stand that is angled in a corner, I put my hand back there and it felt like the ambient room temp. I had my Sony rear projection sitting on that same stand and it put out more heat. There are no off angle pic washout at all. I was sitting in floor right in front of TV dusting off the shelves and looked up the picture look the same as if I was sitting in my chair across the room. My Sony was like that, great off angle viewing. It was something I never really thought about until I got that 60" LCD and boy did I miss it, the only way to compensate was to put it in vivid mode but WOW it felt like my eyeballs were going to melt. OK back to the panny, I am watching all the shows I normally watch. Panny tech said to do so, he did advise me if I come across any HD channels in 4:3 with side bars adjust aspect ratio to "Just" so it will fill screen. All my SD channels are set to do this thru cable box. For the most part all HD is full screen a few shows from local broadcast still are 4:3. Panny tech assured me unless you leave channel logos, ticker bars, BDP menus, etc.. on for over an hour or more there is little to no chance to do irreversible damage. One thing I found a bit annoying the little red led ON light is located on the frame to the left of the Panasonic logo it can be a bit much while watching TV in the dark so I moved my center channel speaker over a bit to block it. If you do not have center channel take a small square of static cling window tint and cover it to dull it down. I have TV hooked up via ethernet cable to router I have not had a chance to try Viera Cast yet. I will update my review periodically as time goes by, but for now I am VERY VERY VERY HAPPY! OH did I mention how VERY HAPPY I am? LOL

****UPDATE***
7/14/10

I am so totally in LOVE with this TV. I am so glad I made the choice to return the LCD and buy this Panny. IMO plasma does have better pq than LCD, we had a 4th of July party and everyone that came in said OMG look at that picture. Blue-Ray looks out of this world I re-watched Avatar on THX mode and saw things I did not see the first time I watched it on the LCD I returned.

5If you want Quality, this is IT  Apr 14, 2010
After about two months of research and extensive digging into reviews, stores and technology there were only two options, the Pioneer 60 inch Plasma (which I have to admit is a tad bit better) or this TV. There is nothing that even comes close if you want what TV's is for - picture quality. If you like the fake colors and railway station like huge bright screen then LCD might be the way to go, but this TV is classy, rich, vivid and crystal freaking clear. Its quite an upgrade over the S or the G models Panasonic makes and with the dropping prices is a great great buy. The only thing that is not right about it is a few bell and whistles about remote and that it aint free.

5Panasonic Plasma and my List!!  Apr 06, 2010
As I have purchased many electronics items for myself and my friends and relatives, I have been appointed the ambassador of all things that have a plug attached. A few days ago I found myself in search a number of items I was given a list and a wad of cash to purchase them. After I deposited their monies, I sat down at my computer, and opened up Electronics Expo's bookmarked website and started my virtual journey.

The first thing on my list from my sister-in-law is a large plasma TV, "the biggest one with the best picture, and don't even think about spending more than three thousand dollars, including an extra 3 year warranty," she was quoted as saying on her way out the door. After I clarified the tax issue on the phone, I penciled in the Panasonic TCP-65V10 (a personal favorite in plasma as I like the THX mode that comes built in), and then moved on to the next item on the list for her son Richard.

He is a young man starting out, but as my nephew and a budding videophile, he wants the best set he can get for the money, and so it is Uncle Gregg to the rescue as usual. I thought about his situation for a moment and his small, well-lit apartment and decided a Samsung LCD would work best. Given the distance from his bed to the opposing wall, a 46" seemed the most appropriate size. He already has a PS3, so I thought it best get him one of the new 3D sets, probably the UN-46C7000 (I'd like a 55" for myself), and kick in a few bucks for him myself in advance of his 23rd birthday. Check mark number 2.

The next item on my list was from my neighbor Nish , a man of eclectic tastes and little technical knowledge of electronics devices despite being an engineer. He has been in need of a new receiver for some time, and after spending many evenings listening to jazz on my Denon AVR-4810ci, he wanted one but did not need all the bells and whistles. I wrote down the AVR-4310ci and saved him some money with no qualitative differences I thought he would notice. I looked like my Expo coupon WS901X3807 was going to get a good workout today. Check mark number 3.

The last item on my list is one that has been in my own home now for some time and has sprouted to a total of three: the venerable Velodyne Impact Mini. This one is going to my old college roommate Max for his house on the Jersey Shore. Check mark number 4. Whew.

My nephew has had the good fortune of my choice for him being out of stock, so I added Christmas present to his total and got him the Samsung UN-55C7000 for a total of $2776, including the tax and shipping. My sister-in-laws' TCP-65V10 came out to the outstanding price of $3064 with the same tax and shipping and of course the Denon AVR-4310ci for Nish at $1417.00. The Impact Mini was an astounding $214.00, all inclusive.

All in all I think everyone did outstanding and my position as the electronics Guru has been set in stone.

5Under $2900.00 Shipped !  Apr 06, 2010
This is a killer set. I was going with a Pioneer Elite but as you may know, pioneer is out of the market and since Panasonic was making the panels I went with the TCP65V10. Blu-Ray is outstanding and even with my older Denon DVD player standard DVD's look great. The black level is the best I've seen and the colors are right on the money. All in all you can't go wrong. Using coupon WS920X5750 at Electronics expo you can get the set shipped for under $2900!

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!

Washington, D.C. (July 2010) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)

The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2009 and June 2010. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its July 2010 issue.)

"
Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."

Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com came closest.
